Basem Mamad Dan'a
Basem Mamad Dan'a is an artist who makes exquisitely imaginative interior décor; jewelry and henna tattoo. All of her products showcase Basem’s skill, artistry and eye for detail. In 2007, Basem obtained her first loan from Tamweelcom and since then, she has renewed twice. She has used the loans to buy the raw materials for her handmade products Basem has reaped tremendous benefits from Souk Ayyadi! She says that the bazaars have created a wonderful marketing atmosphere by providing a high-profile sales venue with an abundance of customers; with each new bazaar, Basem has increased her sales. Since taking her first loan, Basem’s life has improved dramatically, economically and socially. She has six children: one son is a university graduate and two sons are attending college. Tamweelcom and Souk Ayyadi have made it possible for Basem to help her children get a higher education and soon, she will be the proud owner of a new car. Before Tamweelcom, Basem taught art education classes for women through another organization. Basem is a textbook example of how effective microfinance can be when coupled with a marketing program. Basem enthusiastically declares that she will renew her loan and continue to participate in the Souk Ayyadi bazaars! Henceforth, Basem and her family no longer have to live with the limitations that they once knew.
