Tamweelcom Receives “A” Rating in Financial Performance, Conducts the first-of-its-kind Social Performance Rating in Jordan

9 November209,Amman- The Jordan Micro Credit Company (Tamweelcom) received the “A” Rating in financial performance and conducted the first social performance rating of its kind in the Kingdom through Planet Rating, the French rating agency that is specialized in assessing the financial and social performance of microfinance institutions.


Tamweelcom has accomplished significant improvement in the financial performance classification compared with performances in 2005 and 2007 when it received (B+) and (A-) ratings consecutively.


The rating revolves around the company’s information systems, risk study, activities and events, and efficiency.


As for the social performance rating, which is considered the first of its kind in Jordan and the first for Tamweelcom since its establishment, the Company has received a (3+) rating with an observation that the Company is advancing towards better performance in the area of social performance management.


The social performance rating depends on international standards, including measurement of the institution’s fulfillment of its mission and strategic goals in the social field, client targeting, services provides, social responsibility towards environment, local community, staff and clients.


Tamweelcom’s CEO Ziad Al-Refai said: “Tamweelcom conducts assessments of its activities with the aim of improving its performance so it is able to reach target groups and improve the socio-economic impact through the implementation of better international microfinance practices.”


Al-Refai added: “Tamweelcom’s accomplishment of these results, which are the highest and the first in the region, is strong proof of our abilities and efforts in this area and of the Company’s high level of efficiency in financial and social management.”


Tamweelcom is a non-profit company and is a pioneering microfinance company in Jordan that endeavors to fight poverty and unemployment.

It was founded in 1999 and is owned by the Noor Al-Hussein Foundation (King Hussein Foundation).

More than 133 thousand projects have been financed using more than JD62 million; 95% of the projects were for women.
