Four Tamweelcom clients win the Citi Bank Micro Entrepreneur Award for 2009

25 February 2009, Amman- Four clients from various branches of the Jordan Microcredit Company- Tamweelcom have won the Citi Bank Micro Entrepreneur Award for 2009, set up by the Jordan Microcredit Company- Tamweelcom in cooperation with the Jordan River Foundation to highlight and support the vital role that micro entrepreneurs play in the national economy. 

Recipients of the award include Hovans Okjian for the category of outstanding productive project in the Industry sector, Abdullah Kafaween for a newly set up enterprise, Ratehah al-Hammouri and Marwan Saleh for pioneering projects.

The City Bank Micro Entrepreneur Award recognizes micro entrepreneurs' efforts in strengthening the national economy and reducing poverty, and aims to increase public awareness of microcredit as a means of establishing pioneering small enterprises.

"Tamweelcom is keen to upgrade micro enterprises and encourages its clients to utilize services provided by international institutions, and is pleased to shed light on successful achievements in various sectors," said Tamweelcom's Executive Director, Ziad Al-Rifai.  He added that Tamweelcom is recognized not only for its superior financial services, but also for its innovative non-financial services, such as training, marketing and community service.

Tamweelcom is a not-for-profit pioneering microcredit company that serves the national economy through combating poverty and unemployment.  Tamweelcom was established in 1999 under the Noor Al-Hussein Foundation, and has since disbursed loans to over 140.000 projects with a value of over JD65 million, largely benefiting women entrepreneurs.
