Tamweelcom Organizes the 12th Souk Ayyadi in Rusayfeh

 

6 August 2009, Amman- Under the patronage of the Assistant District Director, Khalaf Al-Hwayyan, the Jordan Micro Credit Company (Tamweelcom) opened the 12th Souk Ayyadi in Rusayfeh, as part of Tamweelcom’s financial and non-financial services to its clients.

The opening of the 12th Souk Ayyadi, which occurred last Thursday, was attended by Tamweelcom’s CEO, several representatives from the private and public sectors, and the company’s employees, as well as around 45 clients of Tamweelcom who work in handicrafts, such as embroidery, pottery, mosaics, straw and various other handicrafts.

This 12th Souk Ayyadi complements what Tamweelcom has started in 2007 as part of its strategic plan that aims to merge between financial and non-financial services provided to its clients. Souk Ayyadi, which includes bazaars and permanent exhibitions, is one of the comprehensive marketing services that Tamweelcom seeks to make available to support micro entrepreneurs and fulfill its social message.

Tamweelcom’s CEO Ziad Al-Refai said that “Rusayfeh bazaar aims to support to clients in Zarqa Governorate and Rusayfeh District in specific manner, and contributes to increasing the incomes of clients and poor producers in the area. It also seeks to raise the level of participation by the people in the area in such social activities, which will ultimately benefit both parties.”

Al-Refai expressed appreciation to the supporters of the bazaar for their efforts, especially Rusayfeh district, Rusayfeh Municipality, Al-Waseet newspaper, Amn FM Radio and Fann FM Radio,

Rusayfeh Branch Director, Bashar Smadi, said that “Rusayfeh Branch was established in 2005, and the Company has funded more than 13000 clients since the establishment of the Branch with more than JD 4.8 million, 98% of whom are women.”

Smadi stressed that Souk Ayyadi, which is being held for the first time in Rusayfeh, is expected to have an effective social impact on the clients and the people in the area.

Tamweelcom is a non-profit company and is the first and pioneering microfinance company in Jordan that endeavors to fight poverty and unemployment. It was founded in 1999 and is owned by the Noor Al-Hussein Foundation (King Hussein Foundation). More than 124 thousand projects have been financed using more than JD 58 million, 95% of the projects were for women.
