Success Stories

Ibtisam Al-Turk

She started where everybody left off.  This is exactly what we thought of when we visited Mrs. Ibtisam Al-Turk in her humble home in one of the old neighborhoods of Salt.  The harsh financial conditions had forced Ibtisam, in her fifties, to look for a way to support her retired husband and her family of eleven members.  She looked into her box of memories only to find what would help her meet her family’s relentless needs.

Ibtisam never expected that the skill of sewing and stitching that she had asked her mother to teach her would become the profession that would salvage her and her family from their deteriorating financial conditions.  With determination and persistence, she searched for someone to support and encourage her in launching her small project and move forward towards her goal of investing her talent and ultimately improve her social and financial situation.  During her search, Ibtisam came to know about Tamweelcom from the various media outlets.  She came to realize the effective role they played in supporting aspiring hand labor and went to them, filled with the hope that they would have a solution.

A needle and threat; that is all Ibtisam had for starting her humble home project.  With her first visit to Tamweelcom’s branch in Baqaa area to ask for help, she received a loan of JD200, which was sufficient to facilitate the purchase of simple raw materials, which made up the basis of her project.  She continued to work with resolve and determination.

Ibtisam began on a small scale, traveling back and forth between Salt and Amman to market her products at one of the folkloric shops in Amman in return for cheap prices that barely fulfilled the smallest part of her needs.  But, as soon as Tamweelcom reached out to her, new horizons started to open up for her, promising successes that she never dared to even dream about before.

Young ambitions that started with the purchase of a sewing machine to produce folkloric dresses all by herself and led to the establishment of a sewing and stitching workshop.  Ibtisam taught one of her daughters the skill of stitching so that she can help her and increase her productivity and in turn her income, and so that her daughter would have this great profession as a safe harbor for her future.  Ibtisam hopes to receive other loans from Tamweelcom in order to help other women by teaching them the art of sewing and in turn help them become active members of the local society.

Tamweelcom reached out to Ibtisam and helped her out of her difficult economic conditions.  As a result, Ibtisam was able to take her first steps on the path of success by providing her with the ability to display her products in the permanent showroom of Souk Ayadi, one of Tamweelcom’s projects, and on the company’s website.  She is also preparing to take part in Ayadi bazaars that are organized by Tamweelcom throughout the Kingdom as support for such aspiring projects by promoting their clients’ skills and talents.
