Sahar Abu Nassar
Madaba, the orient’s magic … it will take to a world of art and beauty.
Sahar Abu Nassar’s talent became evident at fourteen when she sewed a dress for her mother on Mother’s Day. Sahar remembers well the details of making that dress; after all, it was the first dress she made since learning the art of sewing and stitching.
Sahar Abu Nassar entered the professional world around two decades ago. She began her sewing and stitching at home, marketing her beautiful creations at Asfour market in Amman. She gradually developed her profession and began to work at a shop in the King Abdullah Gardens. Soon after, she got her own store and has now been managing it for nearly twelve years.
Sahar’s husband and five children played the biggest role in paving the path of success for her. Some of them learned the art of sewing, while others learned stitching. They helped her with product sales, whether at the shop or at promotional exhibitions. Sahar participated in many exhibitions over two consecutive years, such as the Global Village and Jerash Festival, as well as Souk Ala’eddin in Mecca Mall and Abdoun Mall.
Sahar relocated her work to Madaba where the revival of tourism brought hope for more expanded sales and promotion. Sahar was able to rent a shop through the help and financial support of Siyaha project in addition to her personal savings. Because she was short on cash when she was organizing and arranging her shop, “Sihru As-Sharq”, and because she need raw materials to sustain her profession, Sahar resorted to Tamweelcom, having realized the support and facilitations they provide to aspiring women entrepreneurs. Sahar received a JD1200 loan at the end of last year, and she used the amount to buy raw materials.
Sahar began her profession by making traditional dresses and outfits, but she did not stop at that. She has developed her creations in order to keep up with the requirements of modern life. The traditional dress is not the main creation you will see at “Sihru As-Sharq”, but rather her creations include pillows, duvets and many beautiful artistic pieces of captivating designs and colors.
Once Sahar cooperated with Tamweelcom, she knew there was no room to back down or retreat. Tamweelcom continued to encourage Sahar and push her forward towards her dreams. Sahar now trains several other women on this profession using her own shop that was the cornerstone of her success and the main support for establishing “Sihru As-Sharq”. Sahar does not stop at this. She dreams of extending the reach of her authentic and magic creations to the entire world. |
