Najat Al-Khatib

From Oweijan and the King Talal neighborhood in Zarqa, Najat Al-Khatib began her modest work of decorating and selling household items to help in providing the needs of her family of eight people.  She worked tirelessly and persistently, marketing her products to family and friends in her neighborhood.  This ensured a small income that helped meet the financial needs of her family.  But, as her family grew and life became more demanding, that small income was no longer sufficient for providing the simplest of life’s necessities.

Najat never gave up, and her perseverance finally led her to Tamweelcom, which helped her realize her modest aspiration of achieving a decent standard of living and education towards a better future for her family.  Tamweelcom facilitated Najat’s first loan, the Loan of Hope, which was 900 Dinars, at the end of 2003.  This was her starting point.  After that, Najat raised the number and quality of her products, thus meeting all the needs of her few clients.  She strove to widen the base of clientele, but that was not to be without the moral and financial support provided to her by Tamweelcom.

Najat gained more self-assurance and confidence in her abilities through Tamweelcom.  She dared to dream and seek to fulfill her dream.  Tamweelcom’s financial and moral assistance continued and grew.  Najat acquired another loan, which helped her build a solid base of clients, through which she finally entered the local market.  Tamweelcom provided her with the opportunity to participate in the first Bazaar Ayyadi, which was organized by the Company in Zarqa (Saadeh Street) in June 2007.  Tamweelcom also supplied her business cards and all other promotional materials in order to facilitate her contacts with the clients and to help her advance her business and grow.  That Bazaar greatly impacted the rise of Najat’s sales, which ultimately moved her to take the next step of renting her own store, thus marking her genuine launch into the local market.

Najat continued to work diligently and ambitiously.  She expanded her store and diversified her products in order to meet the requirements of modern households.  Moreover, she contributed to the local economy as she hired a number of homemakers to help her with handicrafts from the comfort of their own homes.  Najat describes the support of her family:  “This would not have been possible without the help of my brother and my children.  One of my sons now works at the store and provides for his expenses and his college installments, which has eased my burden of paying for his college education.”

The outcome of Najat’s perseverance and hard work was her winning the Citi Group Global Award this year, through Tamweelcom, for the commercial sector, as her business was voted one of the best commercial projects.  When HM Queen Rania Al-Abdallah was touring the award winning projects, she praised such efforts to improve the local economy through the provision of sufficient support to small projects.  Najat shared her feelings with us at the moment of her success:  “The honor granted to us by Her Majesty the Queen gave us the motive to achieve more successes and offered us a wider perspective of the future.”

Najat did not stop at that.  She has taken leaping strides on the path of success.  Nowadays, she is preparing to launch her second store at the beginning of 2008.  She has introduced new household items and cleaning materials in her business.  And her ambitions are still abound, as she hopes to purchase a van to facilitate the process of purchasing and transporting her products.  She is also working on opening a special section for electrical household items.

Tamweelcom does not only help you fulfill your dreams, but also motivates you to dream and to turn those dreams into reality.
