Abd Al-Kader Al Warasneh

Abd Al-Kader grew up in a family of 10 children in Al Ashrafia. At the age of 17, he was forced to quit school and start working to increase his family's marginal income, so he took a job in small local business where he learned to sew.

In 2002, Abd Al-Kader decided to realize a long kept dream and start up his own business. With 25 years of experience he bought his first sewing machine and started to produce and sell broidery dresses. However, sales were low and Abd Al-Kader knew that he had to improve the quality of his products. In 2003, he contacted Tamweelcom and took out a JD 500 loan to buy better fabrics and materials.

meanwhile, Abd Al-Kader’s clients were mostly family, friends and neighbors. He performed some tailor work and he also worked for other businesses, producing bedcovers and pillowcases. Now, at age 45, he had built a family of his own who depended on his business.

The breakthrough came eventually. In July 2007, Abd Al-Kader participated in Tamweelcom's second Bazaar Ayyadi at King Hussien park. With a background in wholesale, selling directly to customers was a new experience, which provided him with a new outlook on his business. Tamweelcom provided Abd Al-Kaderl with business cards as one of several tools to reach out to potential clients. When the Bazaar was over, Abd Al-Kader could summarize that it had not only resulted in great sales but also increased his potential clients considerably and word of mouth started spreading. Abd Al-Kader had made himself a name.

Today, outlets in Jebal Hussein, Al Balad and other various parts around Amman sell Abd A-Kader’s products. He has contributed to the community where he lives by creating work opportunities for about 10 women, whom he regularly employs as subcontractors. One of Abd Al-Kader’s son recently received an educational grant by Tamweelcom to enroll in a school. Abd Al-Kader’s wish is that all of his four children will be able to complete their studies and believes that his business and Tamweelcom will make that reality.

By creating new working opportunities and selling micro entrepreneurs products, Tamweelcom succeeded to alleviate poverty and unemployment in line with providing its clients with Educational grant, which have a big role in the local community and the social development.
