Nisreen Al-Ghleilat
Umm Osama was overwhelmed as she faced life’s financial difficulties and her responsibilities as a mother and a housewife, forcing to stay home. Her best solution was to create a small project at home, which would not prevent her doing her household duties and responsibilities but will also provide an income that would help her manage her financial situation. Nisreen Al-Ghleilat learned the skill of making straw and wicker baskets and items from her friend and started to practice what she learned, producing some items which she then sold to neighbors and friends.
Nisreen worked from her home for four years. She developed on what she had learned, adding and creating new styles and designs. She also taught her sister and some other women in order to give them a profession they can use in raising raise their financial and social standards. It was not, however, a smooth ride. She used to take turns with her husband to go to Amman in order to buy the necessary tools and materials.
Nisreen endeavored to expand her marketing base through contracts with some local sweet shops near her home in Madaba. But that was not all. She wanted to develop her chances at success, so she searched for someone to adopt her talent and help her profession. She then came to learn about Tamweelcom from a neighbor and quickly sought their help. And so it was.
Tamweelcom’s assistance to Nisreen was not limited to the JD500 loan she received. The company opened new horizons for her by giving her the opportunity to exchange expertise and knowledge with other Tamweelcom clients, as well as display her creations in the company’s Souk Ayadi.
Asking Nisreen about her aspirations, she said: “I would like to get another loan to add decorative materials to my straw creations. I also dream of having a workshop and an exhibition area for my straw and wicker products.” |
