Myassar Kashkoosh

A profitable self-made profession: that is all Myassar Kashkoosh wanted when her children asked what she wanted as a present for Mother’s Day.  She had always dreamed of finding a profession that would fill her free time and increase her income and ultimately secure a good education for her children.  She got exactly what she wished for.  Her six children gave her some money which she spent on registering for a straw-making course at the Social Development Center in Al-Hashimi area.  Her husband was opposed to the idea at first, but then came to admire and appreciate Myassar’s straw and wicker artistic creations, and ended up encouraging her and even assisting her.

Maysar told us about her day and working hours, saying:  “I take care of my children’s homework and the housework during the day, and at night I spend the hours with my husband and children while weaving the straw and wicker into an art piece or a wastebasket or other beautifully adorned items.”  Maysar used to market her simple products to her friends and neighbors.

Once Maysar completed her training course at the Social Development Center, she had to take the next step forward and to find someone who would support and encourage her profession.  Maysar learned from a relative, a client of Tamweelcom, about the attention that the company gives to aspiring skills and about their financial support and guidance.  She did not hesitate for a second and contacted Tamweelcom in order to find out how they can support her modest home-based project.  Her call was well-received and Tamweelcom gave Maysar a JD300 loan by the end of 2007 to support her straw-making project.  She used part of the loan to repay her accumulating debts and the other part to purchase some raw materials and tools.

Tamweelcom encouraged Maysar to keep up with the modern designs and requirements of her profession, so that her products would be able to compete with the best of household stores.  Tamweelcom also provided Maysar with an extensive marketing window through Souk Ayadi and the other bazaars organized by the company throughout the Kingdom.  Maysar realized that nothing is impossible with Tamweelcom, and this realization allowed her to dream about establishing her own shop where she can display and sell her own products and about securing a good college education for her children.  With Tamweelcom, nothing is impossible.
